A shopkeeper marks his goods at 25% above the cost price. He sells three-fourth of the goods at the marked price and the remaining at 40% discount on the marked price. His gain/loss percent is:
Let number of goods = y and Price of each good = Rs. x Total = xy
M.p. = $$\frac{5x}{4}$$
For 3/4th of goods, Sp = $$\frac{3y}{4}$$ * $$\frac{5x}{4}$$ = $$\frac{15xy}{16}$$
For 1/4th of goods, Sp = $$\frac{y}{4}$$* $$\frac{3x}{5}$$*$$\frac{5x}{4}$$ = $$\frac{3xy}{16}$$
Profit = $$\frac{15xy +3xy -16xy}{16}$$ Hence profit percentage=Â ($$\frac{xy}{8}$$/ (xy) )*100 = 12.5 percent profit
