Question 63

If the average of 20, 40, 50, Y and Z is 45 , then what is the average of Y and Z?

Solution

If the average of 20, 40, 50, Y and Z is 45 ,

Average = $$\frac{sum\ of\ data}{number\ of\ data}$$

$$45 = \frac{20+40+50+Y+Z}{5}$$

20+40+50+Y+Z = 225

110+Y+Z = 225

Y+Z = 225-110

Y+Z = 115

Average of Y and Z = $$\frac{Y+Z}{2}=\frac{115}{2}$$

= 57.5
