42 boys can complete a piece of work in 20 days working 8 hours per day. In how many days can 14 boys complete the same work, each boy working 12 hours per day?

Solution

$$boys_1\times\ days_1\times\ time_1\ =\ boys_2\times\ days_2\times\ time_2$$

$$42\times20\times8=14\times\ days_2\times\ 12$$

$$1\times20\times2=1\times\ days_2\times1$$
$$40=days_2$$

So in 40 days, 14 boys can complete the same work, each boy working 12 hours per day.
