Shopkeeper sold big, medium and small sized chairs for Rs 650, Rs 500 and Rs 400 respectively. The total number of chairs sold were in the ratio 8 : 13 : 4. What is the average cost (in Rs) of a chair?

Solution

Ratio of big, medium and small sized chairs = 8:13:4

Price of big, medium and small sized chairs (in Rs.) = 650, 500, 400

=> Average cost of a chair = $$\frac{(8\times650)+(13\times500)+(4\times400)}{(8+13+4)}$$

= $$\frac{(5200+6500+1600)}{25}$$

= $$\frac{13300}{25}=Rs.$$ $$532$$
