If a 32 year old man is replaced by a new man,then the average age of 42 men increases by 1 year. What is the age of the new man?

Solution

Let average age of original 42 men = $$x$$ years and age of new man = $$y$$ years

=> Total age of 42 men = $$42x$$ years

According to ques,

=> $$\frac{42x-32+y}{42}=x+1$$

=> $$42x-32+y=42x+42$$

=> $$y=42+32=74$$ years

=> Ans - (C)
