The ratios of spirit and water in vessels A and B are 4 : 5 and 7: 11, respectively. The contents of A and B are mixed in the ratio 2 : 5. What is the ratio of spirit and water in the resulting solution?
Solution
Let quantity of mixture in A be 36 litres and in B be 90 litres (now their ratio is 2:5)
=> Spirit in mixture A = 16 litres and water = 20 litres
Similarly, spirit in mixture B = 35 litres and water = 55 litres
2 parts of A and 5 parts of B are taken, => Total spirit : total water = $$(16+35):(20+55)$$
= $$51:75=17:25$$
=> Ans - (C)
