In a farm, there are goats and peacocks. If the number of heads are 60 and the number of feet are 170, then the number of goats = ?

Solution

Let number of goats be x and peacocks be y

Each one have one head

So, x + y = 60 -------I

Goat have 4 leg and peacock have 2 leg

So, 4x + 2y = 170 = 2x + y = 85 --------II

Equating I and II we get,

x = 25

Hence, number of goats is 25.
