What is the difference between a discount of 35% and two successive discounts of 30% and 5% on a bill on ₹10,00,000?

Solution

difference = 10,00,000 of (100-30)% of (100-5)% - 10,00,000 of (100-35)%

= 10,00,000 of 70% of 95% - 10,00,000 of 65%

= $$10,00,000\times\frac{70}{100}\times\frac{95}{100}-10,00,000\times\frac{65}{100}$$

= $$665000-650000$$

= 15000
