The area of a field in the shape of a regular hexagon is $$2400 \sqrt{3} m^2$$. The cost of fencing the field at ₹16.80/metre is:

Solution

Area of a hexagon = $$\frac{3\sqrt{3}a^2}{2}$$

a = side

$$2400 \sqrt{3} = \frac{3\sqrt{3}a^2}{2}$$

$$a^2 = 1600$$

a = 40 m

Perimeter = 6a = 6 $$\times$$40 = 240 m

The cost of fencing the field = 240 $$\times$$ 16.8 = Rs.4032
