Question 58

If $$x$$:y = 5 : 7 , then $$(6x - y) : (5x+ 3y)$$ is equal to:

Solution

Given,

$$\frac{x}{y}=\frac{5}{7}$$

Putting these value in equation given in the question.

$$\therefore\ \frac{6x-y}{5x+3y}=\frac{\left(6\times5\right)-7}{\left(5\times5\right)+\left(3\times7\right)}$$

= $$\frac{23}{46}=\frac{1}{2}$$

= 1 : 2

Hence, Option D is correct.
