Question 57

A takes 10 minutes more than B in covering a certain distance. If their speeds are in the ratio of 3 : 4, then what is the time taken by B to cover the same distance?

Solution

Given ,

Distance by A,B= D

Speed ratio= 3:4

Time= $$\frac{distance}{speed}$$

Time taken by A - Time taken by B = 10min

$$\frac{D}{3y}$$-$$\frac{D}{4y}$$=10

$$\frac{D}{12y}$$ =10

D= 120y m

Time taken by B= $$\frac{120y}{4y}$$
                           = 30 min
