Question 56

The sum of the salaries of A and B together is ₹43000. A spends 95% ofhis salary and B, 80% of his salary. If now their savings are the same, what is B’s salary (in ₹)?

Solution

given that salary of A and B is 43000

given that  A has spent 95% of his salary and B has spent 80% of the salary

so the savings of A is 5% and savings of B is 20%

also given that savings of both A and B are equal

5% of A = 20% of B

$$\frac{5}{100}\ \times\ A=\frac{20}{100}\times\ B$$

0.05A=0.2B

i.e; A=4B

we know that A+B=43000

so 4B+B=43000

5B=43000

B=8600

Hence answer is optionB
