Question 55

The volume of a tank is 72 cubic metres. Water is poured into it at the rate of 60 litres per minute. How much time will it take to fill the tank?

Given,

Volume of the tank = 72 cubic metres = 72 x 1000 litres  (Since 1 cubic metre = 1000 litres)

Rate at which water is poured into the tank = 60 litres per minute

$$\therefore\ $$Time required to fill the tank = $$\frac {\text{Volume}} {\text{Rate}}=\frac{72\times1000}{60}$$

= $$1200$$ minutes

= $$\frac{1200}{60}$$ hours

= $$20$$ hours

Hence, the correct answer is Option B
