The distance between two stations A and B is 800 km. A train X starts from A and moves towards B at 40 km/h and another train Y starts from B and moves towards A at 60 km/h. How far from A will they cross each other ?
Solution
Given that the distance between the two stations A and B = 800Km.
Speed of train X=40Km/hour
Speed of train Y=60 km/hour
Both train X and Y are moving to each other,
Let after the time t, train X and Y will be in the same position.
$$\Rightarrow 40\times t+60\times t=800$$
$$\Rightarrow 100\times t=800$$Km
$$\Rightarrow t=\dfrac{800}{100}=8$$hour
So, the distance form the station A$$= 40\times 8 =320$$Km
