Question 53

An athlete crosses a distance of 900 m in 10 minutes. What is his speed in km per hour?

Solution

Given, Distance = 900 m

Time = 10 min = 10 x 60 sec = 600 sec

Speed = $$\ \frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Time}} $$ = $$=\frac{900}{600}=\frac{3}{2}$$ m/sec = $$\frac{3}{2}\times\frac{18}{5}$$ km/h = $$\frac{27}{5}$$ km/h = 5.4 km/h

Hence, the correct answer is Option A
