Question 51

The height of an equilateral triangle is 18 cm. Its area is

Let the side of an equilateral triangle be "a" cm.

By using Pythagoras Theorem,

$$a^2-\left(\dfrac{a}{2}\right)^2=\left(18\right)^2$$

$$\dfrac{3a^2}{4}=324$$

$$a^2=\dfrac{\left(324\times4\right)}{3}=432\ cm^2$$

Area of triangle = $$\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{4}\times a^2=\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{4}\times432=108\sqrt{3}cm^2$$
