The average age of five persons is 60 years. The average age of first four persons is 40 years. What is the age of the fifth person ?

Solution

Sum of ages of 5 persons = $$5 \times 60 = 300$$

Sum of ages of first 4 persons = $$4 \times 40 = 160$$

=> Age of fifth person = $$300 - 160 = 140$$ years
