Ratio of present ages of A and B is 4 : 5. After 5 years age of B will be 35 years. What is the present age (in years) of A?

Solution

Let A's present age = $$4x$$ years and B's present age = $$5x$$ years -----------(i)

Age of B after 5 years = 35 years

=> B's present age = $$35-5=30$$ years

From equations (i) and (ii), => $$5x=30$$

=> $$x=\frac{30}{5}=6$$

$$\therefore$$ A's present age = $$4\times6=24$$ years

=> Ans - (A)
