Question 39

The following equation is incorrect. Which two signs should be interchanged to correct the equation?
21 + 16 x 35 - 70 ÷ 20 = 9

Solution

Expression : 21 + 16 x 35 - 70 ÷ 20 = 9

(A) : + and x

$$\equiv21\times16+35-70\div20=9$$

L.H.S. = $$336+35-3.5=367.5\neq$$ R.H.S.

(B) : - and ÷

$$\equiv21+16\times35\div70-20=9$$

L.H.S. = $$21+(16\times\frac{1}{2})-20=9=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans-  (B)
