Both the numbers are added and the sum is divided by 2
Eg : $$\frac{73+17}{2}=\frac{90}{2}=45$$
and $$\frac{68+40}{2}=\frac{108}{2}=54$$
Similarly, $$\frac{83+15}{2}=\frac{98}{2}=49$$
