Question 29

If + stands for division; x stands for addition; - stands for multiplication; + stands for subtraction, which of the following is correct ?
(a) 15 ÷ 5 × 2 - 6 + 3 = 28
(b) 15 × 5 + 2 - 6 ÷ 3 = 56.5
(c) 15 + 5 - 2 ÷ 6 × 3 = 3
(d) 15 - 5 + 2 × 6 ÷ 3 = 41

Solution

(a) : 15 ÷ 5 × 2 - 6 + 3 = 28

$$\equiv15-5+2\times6\div3=28$$

L.H.S. = $$10+4=14\neq$$ R.H.S.

(b) : 15 × 5 + 2 - 6 ÷ 3 = 56.5

$$\equiv15+5\div2\times6-3=56.5$$

L.H.S. = $$15+15-3=27\neq$$ R.H.S.

(c) : 15 + 5 - 2 ÷ 6 × 3 = 3

$$\equiv15\div5\times2-6+3=3$$

L.H.S. = $$6-6+3=3=$$ R.H.S.

=> Ans - (A) : c
