A car travels from A to B with 40 Km/h and returns from B to A with 60 Km/h. Its average speed during the whole journey is
Let the distance between A and B be "d" km.
Total distance covered = 2d km
Total time taken = $$\dfrac{d}{40}+\dfrac{d}{60}=\dfrac{\left(60d+40d\right)}{40\times60}=\dfrac{d}{24}hr$$
Average speed = $$\dfrac{2d}{\dfrac{d}{24}}=48\ kmph$$
