Solution

Let the total distance be 120 km.
Hence, first half covered in 60/40 = 1.5 hours and second half covered in 60/60 = 1 hour.
Total time taken = 2.5 hours to cover 120 km
Hence, average speed = 120/2.5 = 48 kmph
