Solution

Let $$x$$ = 0.363636.... --------------(i)

Multiplying both sides by 100

=> $$100x$$ = 36.363636.... ------------(ii)

Subtracting equation (i) from (ii)

=> $$100x - x$$ = (36.363636....) - (0.363636....)

=> $$99x = 36$$

=> $$x = \frac{36}{99} = \frac{4}{11}$$

So, 0.363636....written in the form p/q is 4/11
