Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and li given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and -
Give answer a: if the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer b: if the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer c: if the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer d: if the data given in both the statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
Give answer e: if the data in both the statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
Who among A, B, C, D and E each having a different weight is the heaviest ?
I. C is heavier than only A.
II. D is lighter than E and B.
I : C is heavier than only A, => A is the lightest and C is the 4th heaviest.
Thus, statement I alone is not sufficient.
Similarly, II alone is also not sufficient. Combining both statements, we get :
D is lighter than E and B.
=> E, B > D > C > A
Thus, either E or B is the heaviest, thus both statements even together are insufficient.
=> Ans - (D)
