Present ages of three persons A, B, C are in the ratio of 6:7:9 respectively. After 5 years, sum of their ages will be 81 years. Find the present age of B ? (in years)

Solution

Let present ages of A, B and C respectively be $$6x , 7x , 9x$$

=> After 5 years, sum of their ages

=> $$(6x + 5) + (7x + 5) + (9x + 5) = 81$$

=> $$22x = 81 - 15 = 66$$

=> $$x = \frac{66}{22} = 3$$

$$\therefore$$ Present age of B = $$7 \times 3 = 21$$ years
