Question 134

The difference between length and breadth of a rectangle is 17m and the perimeter is 106m. Find the area of rectangle ? (in m )

Solution

Let length of the rectangle = $$x$$ metre

=> Breadth of the rectangle = $$x - 17$$ metre

Now, perimeter = $$2 (x + x - 17) = 106$$

=> $$2x - 17 = \frac{106}{2} = 53$$

=> $$2x = 53 + 17 = 70$$

=> $$x = \frac{70}{2} = 35$$

=> Length = 35 m and Breadth = 35 - 17 = 18 m

$$\therefore$$ Area of rectangle = $$35 \times 18$$

= $$630 m^2$$
