In what ratio Martina should mix two varieties of juice worth Rs. 52 per litre and Rs. 74 per litre so that by selling the mixture at the rate of Rs. 71.28 per litre she can earn a profit of 8% ?

Solution

S.P. of mixture = Rs. 71.28

Profit % = 8%

=> C.P. of mixture = $$\frac{100}{108} \times 71.28$$

= Rs. 66 per litre

Let Martina mix the juice in the ratio = $$x : y$$

Acc to ques,

=> $$52x + 74y = 66 (x + y)$$

=> $$52x + 74y = 66x + 66y$$

=> $$14x = 8y$$

=> $$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{8}{14} = \frac{4}{7}$$

$$\therefore$$ Martine should mix the juice in the ratio = 4 : 7
