Question 135

A vendor purchased 40 dozen bananas for ₹ 250. Out of these 30 bananas were rotten and could not be sold. At what rater per dozen should he sell the remaining bananas to make a profit of 20%?

Solution

Cost Price of 40 dozen bananas = ₹ 250

i.e, Cost Price of 480 bananas = ₹ 250  (1 dozen = 12)

The remaining bananas after 30 bananas were rotten = 480-30 = 450

Profit% = 20%

$$=$$> Selling Price of 450 bananas = $$\frac{120}{100}\times250=₹ 300$$

$$=$$> Selling Price of 12 bananas (1 dozen) = $$\frac{12}{450}\times300=₹ 8$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option D
