The ratio of weekly incomes of A and B is 9 : 7 and the ratio of their expenditures is 4 : 3. If each saves 200 per week, then the sum of their weekly incomes is

Solution

let the income of A and B be 9z and 7z

and the expenditure be A and B 4a and 3a

9z - 4a = 200

7z - 3a = 200

solving both equations , we get

z = 200

a = 400

income of A and B are 1800 and 1400 and hence sum = 3200
