Question 106

3,000 is divided between A, B and C, so that A receives 1/3 as much as B and C together receive and B receives 2/3 as much as A and C together receive. Then the share of C is

Solution

A+B+C = 3000

A = $$\frac{1}{3}$$(B+C)

add A on both sides

3A = B+C

4A=A+B+C=3000 $$\Rightarrow$$ A = 750/-

B = $$\frac{2}{3}$$(A+C)

3B = 2A+2C

add 2B on both sides

5B = 2A+2B+2C

5B = 2(A+B+C)

5B = 6000  $$\Rightarrow$$ B = 1200/-

A+B+C = 3000

750+1200+C = 3000

C = 3000-1950 = 1050/-

so the answer is option D.
