Question 105

A shopkeeper sold an item for r1510 after giving a discount of 24 1/2% and thereby incurred a loss of 10%. Had he sold the iterm without discount, his net profit would have been

Solution

Let M.P. =$$x$$

Discount = 24$$\frac{1}{2}$$% = $$\frac{49}{2}$$%

$$\therefore$$ (100 - $$\frac{49}{2}$$%) of $$x$$ = 1510

=> $$x * (\frac{200-49}{200})$$ = 1510

=> $$x * \frac{151}{200}$$ = 1510

=> $$x$$ = 2000

Loss % = 10%

$$\therefore$$ C.P. = $$\frac{1510*100}{90}$$ = $$\frac{15100}{9}$$

=> Profit = 2000 - $$\frac{15100}{9}$$ = $$\frac{2900}{9}$$

= 322$$\frac{2}{9}$$
