IOQM Expected Cutoff 2026
The IOQM Expected Cutoff 2026 gives students an initial reference to assess their chances of qualifying for the Regional Mathematical Olympiad. With IOQM conducted on September 6, 2026, the next question for many students is whether their estimated score will be enough for the next stage.
There is no single qualifying cutoff for every student. The applicable score depends on your region and category. This article provides indicative ranges based on the 2025 cutoffs, along with the official RMO selection rules.
These ranges are estimates, not confirmed qualifying marks. The final cutoffs may be higher or lower depending on the 2026 score distribution, paper difficulty and competition within each region.
IOQM 2026 Expected Cutoff: Region-Wise
The table below presents reference ranges for selected regions where the supplied 2025 sheet provides numerical cutoffs across all three selection groups. Category A covers Classes 8–11, Category B covers Class 12, and the additional girls’ quota applies to Category A.
For transparency, these bands extend approximately five marks on either side of the 2025 cutoff, without going below the minimum eligibility score of 10. They are not based on a verified sample of 2026 student scores.

What Score Is Required to Qualify for RMO 2026?
Students must score at least 10% of the total marks to be considered for RMO selection. However, scoring 10 marks does not automatically qualify a student.
The official IOQM-to-RMO selection criteria specify the following:
| Selection Group | Qualification Rule per Region |
|---|---|
| Category A: Classes 8–11 | Top 200 eligible students, including ties at position 200 |
| Category B: Class 12 | Top 40 eligible students, including ties at position 40 |
| Additional girls’ quota | Five additional Category A girls, including ties at position five |
| Class 12 girls | Qualify through Category B; no separate girls’ quota |
There is no universal safe score for RMO 2026. A score that qualifies in one region may be insufficient in another.
First, calculate your score using the official answer key. Then compare it with the appropriate regional and category range. If your score is close to the estimate, continue preparing while awaiting the final selection list. Neither crossing an estimated range nor meeting a certificate threshold confirms RMO qualification.

What Happens After Clearing the IOQM 2026 Cutoff?
Students selected through IOQM become eligible for the Regional Mathematical Olympiad, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements. HBCSE has scheduled RMO 2026 for November 15, from 1 PM to 4 PM.
Your preparation should now include writing complete mathematical arguments. Getting the final answer is only part of the task; you must explain why your reasoning works.
Practise RMO previous year papers, justify every major step and review incomplete solutions. Continue working on algebra, geometry, number theory and combinatorics. Follow official announcements for participation instructions and keep your enrolment details ready.
IOQM Expected Cutoff 2026: conclusion
The IOQM Expected Cutoff 2026 helps students compare their estimated scores with region-wise and category-wise reference ranges. However, these estimates are based on IOQM previous year cutoffs and do not confirm RMO qualification. Check the range for your allotted region and category, and remember that meeting the minimum eligibility score of 10 marks does not guarantee selection.
Use the IOQM 2026 answer key to review your score and follow official announcements for the final cutoffs and selection list. If your score is close to or above the expected range, continue preparing with RMO previous year papers and practise writing clear mathematical proofs. Building your understanding of algebra, geometry, number theory and combinatorics will help you prepare for the next stage while you await confirmation.
