IIT Kharagpur MBA RTI Data 2025: The Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur has disclosed comprehensive admission statistics for its 2025 MBA batch following a Right to Information request filed by Girish Sharma, who is a resident of Haryana.
The figures revealed that the institute shortlisted 2,650 candidates for personal interviews across all categories. Of these, 615 received final admission offers, but only 178 students ultimately enrolled in the program, leaving 16 seats vacant despite four rounds of waitlist offers.

After four exhausting waitlist rounds, the final batch composition was like this:

Perhaps the most nerve-wracking aspect of any admission process is the waitlist. IIT Kharagpur conducted four rounds:

The General category saw 110 candidates move off the waitlist across four rounds, which is a significant churn, which could be a sign of competing offers from IIMs and other premier B-schools. OBC witnessed 87 waitlist conversions, while SC had 24.

The minimum composite score for the General category went up from 21.30 during the shortlist phase to 52.50 for final offers. We observed similar trends across other categories, underscoring the importance of the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview for candidates.
Although we made 615 offers, only 178 students enrolled, leaving 16 empty seats: 6 in General, 7 in OBC, 2 in SC, and 1 in EWS.
For the 2026 admission cycle, the application deadline is February 5, 2026. You'll be able to make corrections from February 6 to 8. They plan to send out interview call letters by February 15, with interviews scheduled from March 6 to 22 in cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
