CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026, Check Opening & Closing Ranks

CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026

The CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026 has been released following the final CSAB Special Round seat allotment. The official cutoff contains opening and closing ranks for different NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Each cutoff row is defined by the institute, academic programme, quota, seat type and gender pool.

The official CSAB portal states that all ranks displayed in the CSAB Special opening and closing rank table are All India CRL ranks. Therefore, the EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD rows also display candidates’ CRL ranks rather than their category ranks.

The cutoff data covers candidates who received a fresh seat in the CSAB Special Rounds and candidates whose existing JoSAA or CSAB allotment was upgraded. Candidates should match every field before comparing their JEE Main rank with the cutoff.

CSAB Round 2 Opening and Closing Ranks 2026

The CSAB Round 2 opening rank is the smallest numerical All India CRL recorded under one exact institute, programme, quota, seat type and gender-pool combination. The closing rank is the largest numerical CRL recorded under the same combination.

A larger numerical closing rank means that allotment extended to a larger CRL number for that particular combination. It does not necessarily mean that the programme or institute is better or less competitive.

Similarly, a lower closing rank may indicate stronger competition only when the institute, programme, quota, seat type and gender pool being compared are equivalent. The opening rank is not the minimum eligibility requirement, and the closing rank does not guarantee admission in another counselling year.

Before comparing the CSAB Round 2 cutoff:

  • Match the exact academic programme.
  • Check whether the quota is Home State, Other State or All India.
  • Match OPEN or the applicable reserved seat type.
  • Keep Gender-Neutral and Female-only rows separate.
  • Check PwD and non-PwD seat types separately.
  • Do not compare DASA-CIWG or DASA-Non CIWG rows with regular CSAB seats.
  • Do not compare B.Arch ranks directly with B.Tech ranks.

The table below presents selected Other State, OPEN, Gender-Neutral NIT cutoffs. Among these selected rows, NIT Karnataka’s Computational and Data Science programme records the smallest closing rank at 3,905.

Institute Programme Quota Opening Rank Closing Rank
NIT Karnataka, Surathkal Computational and Data Science Other State 3,905 3,905
MNNIT Allahabad Computer Science and Engineering Other State 5,729 5,800
MNIT Jaipur Computer Science and Engineering Other State 6,597 6,597
MNIT Jaipur Mathematics and Computing Other State 9,292 9,292
NIT Kurukshetra Computer Science and Engineering Other State 11,268 11,328
NIT Jalandhar Computer Science and Engineering Other State 15,824 16,230
NIT Jalandhar Data Science and Engineering Other State 19,580 19,667
NIT Jalandhar Electrical Engineering Other State 26,177 27,165

An identical opening and closing rank means that the same candidate rank set both recorded limits for that particular combination. It does not establish how many seats were originally available.

CSAB Round 2 Cutoff: Category-Wise Ranks

The CSAB Round 2 category-wise cutoff is presented through different seat types, including OPEN, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and their applicable PwD combinations. A valid comparison requires the institute, programme, quota and gender pool to remain the same.

Keep the following rules in mind:

  • Do not compare two seat types if their programme, quota or gender pool is different.
  • Do not describe an EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST cutoff displayed by CSAB as a category rank.
  • All ranks in the CSAB Special cutoff table are All India CRL ranks.
  • Treat Female-only, including Supernumerary, as a separate gender pool.
  • PwD combinations must be checked separately from non-PwD rows.

NIT Jalandhar CSE Category-Wise Cutoff

The following table keeps the institute, programme, Other State quota and Gender-Neutral pool unchanged. Only the seat type differs.

Institute and Programme Seat Type Opening CRL Closing CRL
NIT Jalandhar - CSE OPEN 15,824 16,230
NIT Jalandhar - CSE EWS 18,003 18,089
NIT Jalandhar - CSE OBC-NCL 19,769 19,979
NIT Jalandhar - CSE SC 75,124 75,124

IIIT Sri City CSE Category-Wise Cutoff

Seat Type Opening CRL Closing CRL
OPEN 25,840 26,229
EWS 32,348 32,826
OBC-NCL 35,133 35,483
SC 1,44,608 1,44,608
ST 2,46,833 2,50,761

BIT Mesra CSE Category-Wise Cutoff

Seat Type Opening CRL Closing CRL
OPEN 28,948 29,411
EWS 40,058 41,017
OBC-NCL 43,815 44,904
SC 1,72,469 1,73,216
ST 3,25,938 3,34,690

These figures demonstrate why candidates must compare their CRL with the correct seat-type row. A reserved seat-type cutoff is not a category rank in the CSAB Special opening and closing rank table.

CSAB Round 2 Cutoff: College and Branch-Wise Analysis

The CSAB Round 2 college-wise cutoff changes considerably across academic programmes. A college cannot be represented by one closing rank because CSE, IT, AI, Data Science, ECE, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and other programmes have separate allotment rows.

Quota and gender pool also affect the cutoff. Therefore, candidates should avoid quoting a college cutoff without mentioning the programme and applicable allotment conditions.

NIT CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026

The following table covers selected NIT programmes under the OPEN, Gender-Neutral seat combination. Most rows use the Other State quota. The applicable quota has been included separately to prevent incorrect comparisons.

NIT Programme Quota Opening Rank Closing Rank
NIT Karnataka, Surathkal Electronics and Communication Engineering Other State 4,259 4,259
MNIT Jaipur Computer Science and Engineering Other State 6,597 6,597

MNIT Jaipur Civil Engineering Other State 34,609 34,609
MANIT Bhopal Chemical Engineering Home State 45,422 45,422

For the selected B.Tech rows, NIT Karnataka’s ECE has the smallest closing rank at 4,259, while MANIT Bhopal Chemical Engineering under the Home State quota closes at 45,422.

Architecture ranks must not be compared directly with B.Tech ranks. For reference, MANIT Bhopal Architecture under the Other State, OPEN, Gender-Neutral combination has an opening rank of 1,012 and a closing rank of 1,109.

IIIT CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026

The following IIIT cutoffs use the All India quota, OPEN seat type and Gender-Neutral pool. Both opening and closing ranks have been included.

What to Do After the CSAB Round 2 Cutoff?

Round 2 completes the regular CSAB Special allotment process for 2026. A candidate’s next step depends on the final seat status displayed in the CSAB portal.

If You Received a Fresh Seat in Round 2

Check the allotted institute, programme, quota, seat type and gender pool. Complete the applicable online reporting requirements, document verification, fee payment and institute-level admission formalities.

Candidates should also follow the allotted institute’s physical reporting instructions. Check the CSAB Physical Reporting Dates 2026 for the next stage.

If Your Seat Was Upgraded

The upgraded seat becomes the candidate’s final CSAB Special allotment. Download the updated allotment documents and check the reporting and balance-fee requirements of the newly allotted institute.

If You Did Not Receive a New Seat

Check whether a previously retained valid seat remains visible in the candidate portal. Not receiving a fresh Round 2 seat does not independently establish whether an earlier seat remains valid.

If You Are Planning Another JEE Attempt

Another JEE attempt should be considered after reviewing the remaining admission options, preferred branch, college expectations and preparation level. A JEE Main Mock Test can help identify gaps in accuracy, speed and syllabus coverage.

Final Situation Immediate Action
Fresh Round 2 allotment Complete online and institute reporting
Seat upgraded in Round 2 Check the final institute and updated allotment letter
No new seat but a retained seat exists Verify the retained seat and reporting status
No allotted or retained seat Review other active admission routes
Planning JEE Main 2027 Assess preparation gaps and begin a structured plan

CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026: Conclusion

The CSAB Round 2 Cutoff 2026 provides the final opening and closing ranks for fresh and upgraded candidates in the regular CSAB Special Rounds. Candidates must compare their JEE Main CRL only after matching the institute, programme, quota, seat type and gender pool.

The selected data shows significant differences across NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and academic programmes. However, a larger or smaller closing rank should not be assessed without considering the applicable allotment conditions.

Candidates who have received or retained a seat should now focus on fee payment, document verification and physical reporting. Those without a final seat should review other admission routes or begin a structured plan for JEE Main 2027.
