CSAB Counselling Fees 2026, Refund Policy & Important Dates

CSAB Counselling Fees 2026 include the amount paid during fresh registration, the non-refundable processing charge and the Institute Admission Fee-II payable after a seat is allotted. The initial registration payment is not the complete college fee. Tuition, hostel, mess and other institute-level charges are decided separately by the allotted NIT, IIIT, IIEST, SPA or GFTI.

For CSAB Special Rounds 2026, registration, Special Round Enrolment Fee payment and choice filling begin on July 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Registration and SREF payment close on August 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Fresh registration is compulsory even for candidates who participated in JoSAA 2026.

CSAB Counselling Fees 2026

The main payment at registration is the Special Round Enrolment Fee, or SREF. It contains Institute Admission Fee-I and the Special Round Processing Fee. The processing fee is ₹5,000 for every category and is non-refundable and non-adjustable.

Fee componentGEN, GEN-EWS and OBC-NCLSC, ST and PwDWhen payable
Special Round Processing Fee₹5,000₹5,000During registration
Institute Admission Fee-I₹35,000₹14,000Included in SREF
Total SREF₹40,000₹19,000During registration
Institute Admission Fee-II₹35,000₹16,000After first seat allotment
Total for a fresh candidate securing a seat₹75,000₹35,000Registration plus allotment

The final row applies when no JoSAA fee adjustment is available. Candidates who already paid fees during JoSAA may see a lower payable amount because the applicable balance is adjusted.

CSAB 2026 Registration and Enrolment Fee

Every eligible candidate must complete fresh online registration. JoSAA registration is not carried forward. After registering, candidates must pay SREF before completing CSAB choice filling.

SREF is ₹40,000 for General, GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates and ₹19,000 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Candidates must also provide refund bank details and upload either a cancelled cheque or the stamped front page of the passbook for the same account.

Use an active bank account with the correct account-holder name, account number and IFSC. Incorrect bank details can delay an admissible refund.

CSAB Special Round Participation Fee 2026

There is no separate additional charge officially named “participation fee” over and above SREF. The participation-related charge is the Special Round Processing Fee of ₹5,000, already included in SREF.

This ₹5,000 is non-refundable even when the remaining eligible amount is returned. It is also not adjusted against the allotted institute’s admission fee. Candidates should therefore treat ₹5,000 as the definite cost of entering the Special Rounds.

Before paying, students should study previous cutoffs, vacancies and realistic branch options. CSAB College Predictor can help create a practical shortlist before choice filling.

CSAB Seat Acceptance Fee and Institute Admission Fee

The Seat Acceptance Fee is mainly part of the JoSAA payment system. During CSAB registration, candidates pay SREF, which includes Institute Admission Fee-I. After receiving a CSAB seat for the first time, candidates choosing Freeze, Float or Slide must pay Institute Admission Fee-II.

IAF-II is ₹35,000 for GEN, GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates and ₹16,000 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. It is paid only in the round in which a CSAB seat is received for the first time. Type-6 candidates, who retained an NIT+ seat after paying the JoSAA Partial Admission Fee, do not pay IAF-II again.

Non-payment of IAF-II is treated as rejection of the allotted seat and ends eligibility for later CSAB rounds. After CSAB, the institute may require the remaining balance according to its own fee rules.

Candidates whose beneficiary category was changed to a non-beneficiary category during JoSAA verification may have to pay an additional ₹15,000 difference, depending on earlier payments and whether PAF was paid. The amount displayed on the candidate portal should be treated as final for that candidate.

CSAB 2026 Refund Rules and Fee Deductions

Refunds depend on the candidate’s JoSAA history, CSAB allotment, reporting actions and withdrawal or surrender decision. The ₹5,000 CSAB processing fee is always non-refundable and non-adjustable.

SituationMain deduction or refund treatment
Eligible CSAB refund₹5,000 CSAB processing fee is retained
JoSAA seat was accepted earlierAdditional ₹5,000 JoSAA processing fee may be deducted
Candidate withdrew in JoSAA or failed to pay PAF after verificationAdditional ₹2,000 withdrawal fee may apply
Candidate gets a CSAB seat but fails online reporting, has unsuccessful verification, withdraws, or surrenders without a later seatAdditional ₹2,000 may be deducted
Candidate fails Round-II reporting, IAF-II payment, document verification, query response or institute joiningNo refund from CSAB; any later refund follows the institute’s rules

The official rules state that no refund will be issued by CSAB if a candidate fails to complete Round-II online reporting, does not pay IAF-II, loses the seat because of invalid documents or delayed query response, or fails to join the allotted institute. In such situations, any subsequent refund is governed by the admitting institute’s rules.  Withdrawal from an accepted CSAB seat is available only during Special Round-I. There is no CSAB withdrawal option after the last round begins. Students uncertain about joining should decide before Round-II.

How to Pay CSAB Counselling Fees 2026 Online

Candidates can pay through debit card, credit card, UPI, net banking, e-Challan or CSC.

  1. Log in to the official CSAB portal.
  2. Complete fresh registration and verify personal and category details.
  3. Enter the bank account details requested for a possible refund.
  4. Upload the cancelled cheque or stamped passbook front page.
  5. Select a payment mode and pay SREF.
  6. Download the receipt and confirm that the status shows successful.
  7. Complete and save fresh choices before the deadline.
  8. If allotted a seat, pay IAF-II and finish document upload, willingness selection and query response.

Round-I IAF-II payment and online reporting are scheduled from August 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM to August 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM. For a fresh Round-II allotment, the window is August 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM to August 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Avoid paying at the last minute. Keep sufficient transaction limits, stable internet access and proof of every payment attempt. CSAB payments are admission deposits and processing charges, not the full institute fee. Check the allotted institute’s official fee notice before confirming a seat.
