When it comes to selecting candidates at IIM Visakhapatnam, they follow three main phases in their selection process.
Phase 1: First Shortlist Of Candidates Based On CAT Scores
In the first stage of the selection process, candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT scores. The minimum section-wise and overall percentile scores are taken into consideration. Those who meet these criteria proceed to the next phase. The specific percentile cut-off scores for CAT are provided below.

It’s important to note that all subsequent processing and selection steps are only applicable to candidates who are part of this initial shortlist. This means that the CAT score alone, considering candidates who have listed IIM Visakhapatnam as one of their preferences in the CAT application form, is used to determine the candidates who qualify for the first shortlist.
Phase 2: First Shortlist Of Candidates Based On CAT Scores
Candidates who qualify at phase 1 will be asked to apply for admission to PGP 2023-25 of IIMV through the IIMV website. Phase-2 of the admission process takes into account candidates who have cleared Phase-1 and completed the detailed online application for admission to IIMV within the given timeframe. The Phase-2 shortlist is prepared based on six parameters: the candidates’ percentage scores in the 10th and 12th Board exams, final scores obtained in the bachelor’s degree and professional degrees (if any), work experience, and gender diversity.
The weights assigned to the six parameters remain fixed for all qualified and confirmed candidates, as shown below.

*The allocation of the 50 points for CAT is based on the performance in each of the three sections as follows: VARC contributes 18 points, DILR contributes 14 points, and QA contributes 18 points.
Phase 3: Final Selection Process
Once the personal interview process is finished for all the shortlisted candidates in phase 2, a composite score will be calculated based on their performance in the personal interview and other relevant parameters, including CAT scores, academic weightage, work experience, and diversity factors will be used to determine the composite score of the candidates. The cost for the PGP Programme of the 2023-25 batch at IIM Visakhapatnam will be Rs. 18.25 Lakh (excluding Goods and Services Tax and any other tax. If made applicable by law, such taxes will be collected from students at the prescribed rates)

IIM Visakhapatnam continued its tradition of achieving 100% placement results, surpassing previous records. The average package for the batch reached Rs. 16.61 Lakhs, marking a 10.29% increase compared to the previous year.
