I have a job where I work around 10 hours a day (9:30 AM-7:PM), and stare at a computer screen all day. I'm finding prep really hard after work, and before work it's not enough. Any tips?

Hey! Even I was facing the same problem and I too had 9 hours working. What I did was join a library and go there after office hours and on weekends. It did help me to spare some time for prep apart from work. Maybe try taking an unpaid exam leave if that's possible.

Better take sabbatical, Many of my friends did the same last year while I was trying to prove a point that I can handle both, At last NO ONE CARES how much work-study balance management you have done, what matters is who got the higher percentile !

Is maths compulsory for CAT?

Yes, Maths is a very important topic in CAT, and in all the MBA entrance exams for that matter. One cannot avoid this subject when preparing for MBA exams. Also, remember that the Maths (QA) section in CAT is not very tough; the concepts tested are from your high-school level. So, if you simply revise the maths concepts taught during high-school, practice good number of sums, take mocks, you can crack the section without much difficulty.

How can I prepare for CAT without coaching?

CAT is basically an aptitude test. It is not a very tough exam, but it is not easy either (particularly if you're not thorough with the basics). It is possible to prepare for this exam at home, but it requires coaching/guidance. Enrolling in online cat coaching helps. You would be having guidance and a peer group to discuss your doubts. Go through the previous papers of CAT, take the free mocks and see if you need improvement in any areas. If you're weak in more than one section, coaching is definitely recommended.

Hi, you must give at least one mock per week. If you have covered all the basic concepts, then you can also give 2 mocks per week (one during the week and one over the weekend).

Hi Pallabi Chowdhary, Start taking two mocks in a week for CAT. You can take one mock on a weekday and one on the weekend. SNAP duration is only one hour so you can take two SNAP mocks on weekdays. If you take a CAT mock on Saturday, you can NMAT mock on Sunday. Hope this helps!
