The average weight of 87 Notebooks in a box is 8.7 kg. When a new Notebook is added to the box the average goes to 8.8 kg. Find the weight of the new Notebook. (in kg)

Solution

Average weight of 87 Notebooks in a box = 8.7 kg

=> Total weight = $$87\times8.7=756.9$$ kg

Let weight of new book = $$x$$ kg

=> New average = $$\frac{756.9+x}{88}=8.8$$

=> $$756.9+x=88\times8.8=774.4$$

=> $$x=774.4-756.9=17.5$$ kg

=> Ans - (C)
