Question 96

In January 2013, out of the total number of visitors in the age group less than or equal to 20 years. who visited the park. 60% of the visitors were females. What is the difference between the number of female visitors in the age group above 20 years and the number of male visitors in the age group above 20 years?

Solution

In January 2013,

Total number of females who visited the park = $$\frac{7}{12} \times 120,000 = 70,000$$

=> Number of males = $$120,000 - 70,000 = 50,000$$

For visitors who were less than or equal to 20 years :

Number of visitors (both male and female) = $$\frac{65}{100} \times 120,000 = 78,000$$

Number of females = $$\frac{60}{100} \times 78,000 = 46,800$$

Number of males = $$78,000 - 46,800 = 31,200$$

For visitors above age group of 20 years :

Number of females = $$70,000 - 46,800 = 23,200$$

Number of males = $$50,000 - 31,200 = 18,800

$$\therefore$$ Required difference = $$23,200 - 18,800 = 4,400$$
