Where does the Alaknanda river join the Bhagirathi river in India?
The Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers join at Devprayag in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. At this point, the two rivers merge to form the holy Ganges river, also known as the Ganga. Devprayag is a pilgrimage town and is considered one of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) in Uttarakhand. The name Devprayag literally means "holy confluence".
