Question 91

If 7x -5y = 13 and 2x -y = 5, then (x -y) is

Solution

Equation 1 : 7x - 5y = 13

Equation 2 : 2x - y = 5

Multiplying equation (ii) by 5 and subtracting equation (i) from it, we get :

=> $$(10x-7x)=(25-13)$$

=> $$3x=12$$

=> $$x=\frac{12}{3}=4$$

Substituting it in equation (ii), => $$y=2(4)-5$$

=> $$y=8-5=3$$

$$\therefore$$ $$(x-y)=4-3=1$$

=> Ans - (D)
