In ΔABC, D and E are points on side AB and AC respectively. DE is parallel to BC. If lengths of AD, DB and DE are 9 cm, 6 cm and 5.4 cm respectively find length of BC?

Solution

DE is parallel to BC

=> $$\frac{AD}{AB} = \frac{DE}{BC}$$

=> $$\frac{9}{9 + 6} = \frac{5.4}{BC}$$

=> $$\frac{9}{15} = \frac{5.4}{BC}$$

=> $$BC = 15 \times 0.6 = 9$$ cm
