ratio of age of A and B = 3 : 5

difference of age = 5 - 3 = 2

given ages of A and B differ by 6

2 = 6

$$ 1 = \frac{6}{2} = 3 $$

ages of A and B = 9 and 15

sum of their ages = 9 + 15 = 24
