Question 9

7 litres mixture of milk and water contains 30% water. 3.5 litres of milk is added to this mixture. What is the percentage of water in the new mixture?

Quantity of mixture = 7 litres

Quantity of water in it = $$\frac{30}{100}\times7=2.1$$ litres

=> Quantity of milk = $$7-2.1=4.9$$ litres

If 3.5 litres of milk is added to this mixture, => Total mixture = $$7+3.5=10.5$$ litres

$$\therefore$$ Percentage of water in the new mixture = $$\frac{2.1}{10.5}\times100$$

= $$\frac{100}{5}=20\%$$

=> Ans - (C)
