Raghunandan sells a machine for Rs 45 lakhs at a loss. Had he sold it for Rs 55 lakh, his gain would have been 9 times the former loss. Find the cost price of the machine.
Let cost price of the machine = Rs. $$x$$ lakhs
When selling price = Rs. 45 lakhs
=> Loss = Rs. $$(x - 45)$$ lakhs
If selling price = Rs. 55 lakhs
=> Profit = Rs. $$(55 - x)$$ lakhs
According to ques, Profit = 9 $$\times$$ loss
=> $$(55 - x) = 9 \times (x - 45)$$
=> $$55 - x = 9x - 405$$
=> $$9x + x = 405 + 55 = 460$$
=> $$x = \frac{460}{10} = $$ Rs. $$46$$ lakhs
