Question 87

 If 2x + 5 > 2 + 3x and 2x-3 ≤ 4x-5, then x can take which of the following values?

Solution

Expression 1 : 2x + 5 > 2 + 3x

=> $$3x-2x$$ < $$5-2$$

=> $$x$$ < $$3$$ ------------(i)

Expression 2 : 2x - 3 ≤ 4x - 5

=> $$4x-2x \geq -3+5$$

=> $$2x \geq 2$$

=> $$x \geq 1$$ -----------(ii)

Combining inequalities (i) and (ii), we get : $$1 \leq x$$ < $$3$$

The only value that $$x$$ can take among the options = 2

=> Ans - (B)
