Question 87

An engineering student has to secure 25% marks to pass. He gets 45 and fails by 45 marks. Find the maximum marks.

Solution

Let maximum marks = $$100x$$

=> Passing marks = $$\frac{25}{100} \times 100x = 25x$$

According to ques,

=> $$25x - 45 = 45$$

=> $$25x = 45 + 45 = 90$$

=> $$x = \frac{90}{25} = \frac{18}{5}$$

$$\therefore$$ Maximum marks = $$100 \times \frac{18}{5} = 360$$

=> Ans - (D)
