Question 85

A sum of Rs 400 becomes Rs 448 at simple interest in 2 years. In how many years will the sum of Rs 550 amounts to Rs 682 at the same rate?

Solution

Let rate of interest = $$r\%$$

Simple interest for 2 years = $$(448-400)=Rs.$$ $$48$$

=> $$\frac{P\times r\times t}{100}=48$$

=> $$\frac{400\times r\times2}{100}=48$$

=> $$8r=48$$

=> $$r=\frac{48}{8}=6\%$$

Let time taken when Rs 550 amounts to Rs 682 = $$t$$ years

=> $$\frac{550\times6\times t}{100}=(682-550)$$

=> $$33t=132$$

=> $$t=\frac{132}{33}=4$$ years

=> Ans - (D)
