An angle is smaller than its supplementary angle by 70°. What is the measure of the angle?

Solution

Let the angle = $$\theta$$

Its supplementary angle = $$(\theta + 70$$°$$)$$

Sum of an angle and its supplementary angle = 180°

=> $$\theta + (\theta + 70$$°$$) = 180$$°

=> $$2 \theta = 180$$°$$ - 70$$°$$ = 110$$°

=> $$\theta = \frac{110}{2} = 55$$°
